At the heart of the Route des Grands Crus de Bourgogne in the Côte-d’Or, Nuits-Saint-Georges is one of those towns that makes glasses and hearts skip a beat. Situated between Dijon and Beaune, this must-see stopover on the Côte de Nuits rolls out its vineyards like a red carpet worthy of the Champs-Élysées… Burgundy style. Here, you can enjoy a bike ride along the Voie des Vignes, push open a cellar door for a magical tasting session, and be surprised to dream of the stars when you learn that a lunar crater bears its name. With its estates, colourful characters and generous lifestyle, this small town of 5,600 inhabitants makes you want to stay… and even come back!

Getting there

Nuits-Saint-Georges, a stratospheric pleasure

Here, each of the 32 winegrowing estates tells its own story: from powerful reds to delicate whites, including some legendary Premiers Crus, Nuits-Saint-Georges lives to the rhythm of the vineyards, and even further afield! In 1971, a bottle of Nuits-Saint-Georges wine was taken on board the American Apollo 15 mission to toast…the moon. When Burgundy’s wines reach for the stars, it’s easy to see why they’re a celestial pleasure.

But Nuits-Saint-Georges is also about the pleasures of the table, and there’s no shortage of them here! La Cabotte, le Grenier à sel, le Meuzinc, La Gentilhommière, la Côte-d’Or, le Café de Paris, le Café du centre…. are just a sample of what awaits you in this gourmet town!

Visits that sparkle

In just 10 minutes, you’ll be in a whole new world: fragrant immersion at the Cassissium, playful excitement at the Imaginarium, and unexpected treats at the Ferme Fruirouge. Here, blackcurrants are made into creams, syrups, vodka… and even ketchup! Not forgetting the Hospices de Nuits, where the famous spring auction transforms wine into an act of solidarity, or the cuverie des Ursulines, where the sun, moon and stars invite themselves into the architecture, just like at the Verrière, which transports you back to the Art-deco era. These unique and singular settings will take you off the beaten track!

A heritage to savour

In just 1 hour, you’ll travel from the Gallo-Roman site of Les Bolards to the sacred stones of the church of Saint-Denis, via an incredible cellar built on the principles of cosmology. Each stop is a pretext for a meeting, a smile, a discovery at the turn of a barrel or a shared visit. And between two stories, a tasting in a cellar warms the heart as much as the palate.

Nuits-Saint-Georges is more than just a town: it’s an open-air experience, a glass of wine enjoyed with friends, a slice of terroir told through the generations. With its estates, its taste for the finer things in life, and its festive events such as Sons d’une nuit d’été and Volcan de Nuits, it’s impossible to leave without a little ‘wahou’ on the lips. So, when are we going to toast to the next discovery?
