A village with a taste of history
Savigny began in the Middle Ages. The lords built a castle, the monks planted vines and the village prospered in the shadow of its towers. The etymology says it all: “Savigny” comes from Sabinius, the Gallo-Roman who founded the village. And history continues to flow through the stone of the medieval castle, the wash-houses, the ancient bridges and the narrow streets lined with winegrowers’ houses. Even today, the Romanesque church, footpaths and estates tell the story of a village where life is lived to the rhythm of the seasons and the wine.
