Chambolle-Musigny

Chambolle-Musigny, lace of vines and velvet of wine on the Burgundy Grands Crus Route

On the Route des Grands Crus de Bourgogne in the Côte-d’Or, Chambolle-Musigny is one of those wine-producing villages with a discreet charm that combines an exceptional setting, an ancient heritage and a goldsmith’s terroir. Here, everything exudes Burgundy: the vines, the blonde stones, the traditions and the cosy atmosphere where every glass of wine becomes a sensory experience. Just 10 minutes from Nuits-Saint-Georges, this little jewel of the Côte de Nuits embodies grace, finesse and the Burgundian art of living.

Getting there

A hand-crafted terroir

At Chambolle-Musigny, the vineyards are lacy. Between 250 and 300 metres above sea level, the vines cling to limestone soil shaped by time and history. Classified as an Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée since 1936, the commune cultivates 152.64 hectares of Pinot Noir, including 24 Premier Cru Climats. Two mythical hearts beat here: Musigny and Bonnes-Mares, emblematic Grands Crus that are the stuff of dreams for wine-lovers the world over.

In the glass, the wines reveal the full signature of the place: floral elegance, delicate red fruit and a silky, almost velvety texture. A rare, precise, hand-crafted terroir.

A village shaped by time

A former dependency of the Abbey of Cîteaux, the village cultivates a deeply Burgundian soul. Winegrower houses, clad in Virginia creeper, line peaceful lanes that invite you to stroll. Sainte-Barbe church, dating from the XVIᵉ century, catches the eye with its imperial domed bell tower, murals and sundial. Not far away, the Sully lime tree, a giant over 400 years old, watches over the village and impresses with its presence.

When the village is experienced as much as it is tasted

When it comes to experiences, Chambolle-Musigny has plenty to offer: wine tasting in a winegrower’s cellar, a morning stroll through the heart of the UNESCO-listed Climats, or a festive highlight at a local event. With its gastronomy, charming accommodation and panoramic views over the vineyards, the village offers a concentration of emotions to be fully experienced… and to take with you, long afterwards, as a memory delicately scented with violets and warm stone.
