It will lead you straight to a building surrounded by vines and recognisable by its bold, twisting architecture. Inside, the senses are awakened, the lights twirl and the glasses of wine clink. You’ve arrived at the Cité des vins de Beaune!

Tour itinerary Wine in all its forms

The Cité des Climats et Vins de Bourgogne may promise you an unforgettable experience, but it doesn’t guarantee you a trouble-free visit. And with good reason! With 1100 square metres devoted to the vineyards of Burgundy, the site retraces over 2000 years of history and geography surrounding wine. Thanks to an immersive scenography, awaken your senses to the aromas, subtlety and elegance of the wines. Then take time to explore the area dedicated to the natural landscape of the Climats* of the Burgundy vineyards. This is your chance to find out why it has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2015. It’s a real eye-opener!

*In Burgundy, a Climat is a geographical area that represents a unique terroir and gives its name to the wine.

Your little ones will love it!

The trail specially designed for children! With its 7 little cabottes (huts used as shelters in the vineyard), it promises a fun and dynamic visit for the youngest visitors. And there’s grape juice on offer for those who make it to the finish line.

A Grand Cru of architecture

Even before you open the doors of the Cité des Climats et Vins de Bourgogne in Beaune, you can’t help but be amazed by its contemporary architecture. The building, designed by the architect Emmanuelle Andreani, stands out for its tendril, which rises towards the sky and is reminiscent of the way the vines wrap themselves around the trellises. At the top, the view from the Belvedere is breathtaking. At a height of 21 metres, the whole of the Côte de Beaune stretches out before your eyes. Don’t forget to immortalise it all with a nice (perched) photo.

Wine bar Toast, savour, share... do it again.

Thirsty after your visit? Well, the Cité de Beaune has thought of everything. Head for Les Accords, an exceptional wine bar on the penultimate floor of the building. In this uncluttered little cocoon, with a view over the Beaune vineyards, it’s the sommelier who guides your fruity visit. With over 110 wines on offer, there’s plenty of time to enjoy a glass of Santenay,Volnay or Hautes-Côtes de Beaune. And to accompany all that, how about a platter of Côte-d’Or charcuterie and cheeses? All that’s missing is a game of wine-edition monopoly and a jug of apple juice for a family moment made in Burgundy!

Tasting workshops The art of being one step ahead

In Burgundy, we don’t drink wine. You slide the glass between your hands, carefully admire its crimson glints, takethe time to smell its aromas and, only after you’ve done all that, savour it. With our eyes closed. As you can see, wine tasting is an art that takes practice. Whether you’re already a seasoned oenophile or a neophyte of good bottles, the Cité de Beaune invites you to take part in one of its wine-tasting workshops. A sensory exercise guided by the aromas of the region’s wines and by passionate oenologists. So, shall we drink a toast?

A tasting to suit you

To get everyone on the same wavelength, the Cité de Beaune offers you a choice of 3 themes for your workshop:

  • Introduction to wine tasting, to learn the basics of the trade;
  • Wine and food pairing, to sample the flavours of the region;
  • Burgundy treasures, to learn all about the different grape varieties.

And if you can’t make up your mind, you can always take part in all three. Not on the same day, of course!

With the family: Oenology is fun!

If your little bandits think that oenology is synonymous with boredom, they’ve certainly never set foot in the Cité de Beaune. In addition to the specially designed family trail, the site is always coming up with inventive and educational activities. Whether you’re making a mini-barrel, creating a butterfly hotel or going on a bat hunt, there’s always a good reason to book afamily visit to the Cité des Climats et Vins de Bourgogne. Your little ones will thank you!
