Between the vineyards of the Route des Grands Crus de Bourgogne in the Côte-d’Or and the fields of blackcurrants, a discreet village hides a monumental nugget. In Villars-Fontaine, the old Burgundy stone quarry has been turned into an open-air gallery featuring electrifying concerts, fire shows and giant frescoes by well-known street-art artists. Every summer, the La Karrière Festival mixes music, theatre, dance and visual arts, in an atmosphere that alternates between chill and wild party. XXL-scale frescoes

Look up: the signatures of internationally famous artists cover the stone. Each fresco hides a nod to the vineyard: a stylised bunch of grapes, a camouflaged wine glass, the silhouette of a vine stock… A colourful treasure hunt devised by graffiti artists with a passion for drawing and grapes. Here, the Hautes Côtes de Nuits become the backdrop and the nearby Route du Cassis takes centre stage.
